The Legacy of Design Awards, the annual competition recognizing the finest interior design achievements within the Texas Chapter, will again be held in conjunction with METROCON Expo & Conference, but there are a few new twists for 2010!



NEW SPONSOR: Design Guide | ASID Texas Chapter is proud to announce a new Media Sponsor for 2010: Design Guide. This collaboration will complement their current sponsorships of the ASID Austin Design Community’s Design Excellence Awards and the ASID Dallas Design Community’s DesignOvation Awards, extending ASID brand coverage across both the Austin-San Antonio and Dallas-Fort Worth Design Guide editions.

NEW NIGHT: Wednesday | In 2006 we made merry on a Thursday evening after a full day on the tradeshow floor. From 2007 to 2009 we spiffed ourselves up after two productive conference days by shifting our revelry to Friday. This year we’re shaking things up and celebrating on the Wednesday night before METROCON so that we’ll be bright-eyed and fresh. (Why didn’t we think of this before?!) So be sure to block out the evening of Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in your calendar.

NEW VENUE: The International at Turtle Creek | If you missed last year’s inaugural Summer Designs fête, then you missed a good time. This year we’re carving out our own celebratory niche during this sizzling party for the A&D community produced by Design Guide and The International at Turtle Creek Tenant Association. Located in the Dallas Design District at 150 Turtle Creek Boulevard, this venue will allow us to take time to honor our winners and still get in on the rest of the fun.

NEW TICKET PRICE: $10 | Oh, and did we mention that in light of the recovering economy, we’re very happy to report that we are lowering the price from $35 to a mere $10 for 2010? What a bargain for the ASID Texas Chapter party of the year! (Pssst: Make it a point to thank our wonderful venue hosts and new Media Sponsor for our ability to offer this extra low price.) Although anyone can get into Summer Designs at 7:30pm for free, if you want to attend the Legacy of Design Awards Celebration, then you must purchase a ticket via PayPal below. You’ll want to be there when everyone – practitioner members, industry partners, students, family and friends alike – meet, reconnect, energize, and celebrate!

TICKETS

Tickets are only $10, but due to advance catering notice, NO TICKETS TO THE AWARDS CELEBRATION (7:00-7:30PM) WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR. Note that ticket sales for the Awards Celebration will cease at 10:00pm Sunday, August 8, 2010. If you have not secured your ticket(s) by that time as per the instructions below, you will miss out on this year’s celebration!

For 2010 Legacy of Design Entrants: One (1) ticket is included for only the first entry. If two or more Interior Designers and/or Industry Partners collaborate and enter together, they still receive only one (1) ticket.

The ONLY exception to using PayPal to reserve a ticket is if you are a sole Entrant and need only to secure a ticket for yourself and no other guests. In this case, you must email 2010 Legacy of Design Co-Chair, Scott Frelick, ASID, at revrob22@sbcglobal.net, put “Legacy of Design Sole Entrant RSVP” in the subject line of the email, and indicate your name contact phone number in the body of the email. Please note that your RSVP is not complete/secure until you receive an email or phone number confirming it. If you do not receive a confirmation email or phone call within two (2) days, please call 469.774.2666. It will be up to you as the Entrant to follow up on your RSVP when using this method.

Before starting the PayPal* online ticket purchase process**, you MUST be ready to indicate the name of every attendee for whom you are getting a ticket. This is critical to ensure that every attendee is on the list at the door.

Therefore, after you enter your credit card information and get to the “Review Your Payment” page, click on “ADD SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO MERCHANT.” A text box will open, and you must type in attendee names. For example, if you purchased a ticket for yourself and 4 others: Jane Doe, Jack Doe, Joe Smith, Jill Smith

INFORMATION REGARDING ENTRIES, AWARDS & INCENTIVES

The Call for Entries for the 2010 competition was announced via e-blast on April 13, 2010. Subsequent e-blasts went out on April 28, May 20 and May 27 before entries were due at the ASID Texas office on June 1 at 4PM.

NOTE: If you are not receiving these e-blasts, then you need to log in to www.asid.org and update your email address there in the national database, as that information trickles down to the Texas Chapter, as well as your local Design Community. In the meantime, mark your calendars for next year, as Legacy 2011 entries will be due sometime between mid- and late-May 2011.
